Freelance Journalist (Milwaukee, WI)
I had known since high school I wanted to be a journalist, but I always had a hard time telling people why. As I look back on my time at Marquette and my work since graduating, the reason is clear: the rush you get working on deadline. I developed a love-hate relationship with the late-night hours in the Tribune office as managing editor. I hated being down there some nights until nearly 4 a.m., but looking back there was nowhere I’d rather be. Those late nights taught me how to deal with pressure, fostered some of my greatest friendships and, most of all, made me realize why I had always loved journalism.
