Retired Editor in Chief, Catholic News Service (Columbia, MD)
At Marquette registration, I was looking for a ‘bubbler’ – the Milwaukee name for a drinking fountain. When I got a blank look from a guy with a New York accent, I knew I wasn’t ‘in Kansas anymore.’ Life centered on Copus Hall, domain of legendary Dean Jeremiah L. O’Sullivan. It’s where I learned to be a journalist and where I met my future wife, Mary. I brought this background to the daily press and later to the Catholic Press, where my career spanned 37 years, including 15 as head of Catholic News Service in Washington, D.C. Thanks MU, for Catholicism and journalism.
