Maureen Orth

Maureen Orth, special correspondent for Vanity Fair and author of the book, "Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History." Ms. Orth, like her friend Axthelm, has worked in cable television, network news, film, magazine and print. She has written for such publications as Newsweek, The Washington Post, the New York Times, Rolling Stone and Esquire, and has won a National Magazine Award for group coverage of the arts.

Not one to shy away from controversy, Orth has profiled world-renown individuals in entertainment, politics, and business, including, Madonna, Margaret Thatcher and Harrod's Mohamed Al Fayed. Orth also has written two investigative pieces concerning sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson.

In "Vulgar Favors," Orth shines a spotlight on every aspect of the Cunanan saga. She explains how a gifted child with a genius IQ and doting parents became a vicious serial killer. She shows how Cunanan avoided his pursers by disappearing inside a gay subculture that is foreign territory to most investigators. Orth lays bare the events leading up to each of his murders and uncovers the murky world he inhabited. And she explains why the search for Cunanan - which cost millions of dollars and involved more than a dozen law enforcement agencies - failed.
