If I participate in the graduation ceremony, does that mean I graduated?
Not necessarily. If you have completed all of your university/college requirements, you are a graduate and will receive your diploma at the graduation ceremony. If, however, you haven’t completed all requirements, you may still participate but won’t receive your actual diploma or be considered a graduate.

Is seating available for guests with special needs?
Yes. If anyone in your party requires special seating because of mobility, communication, vision or other disability-related needs, please call 414-288-7702 to notify the college so the correct tickets can be issued. Wheelchairs or other prescriptive equipment are not provided by the university, college or venue.

How do I get my cap and gown?
Academic apparel is automatically ordered for each student who submitted an application for graduation to the college records office. Apparel must be picked up in person at Alumni Memorial Union. See the University or College web sites for specific dates and times.
If you’re unable to pick up your apparel, be sure to send a representative to pick it up for you. Your representative will need to know your name, college, degree and height.
No apparel will be distributed at the Bradley Center or any other location.

Do I need tickets? If so, how many do I get?
Tickets are required for all guests attending the Diederich College of Communication graduation ceremony. Each graduate receives an initial four (4) tickets which must be picked up in person in Johnston Hall 112. See the College web site for specific dates and times.
If you’re unable to pick up your tickets, please contact Steve Repati (288-5923) to let him know who will be picking them up for you.
At ticket pickup, additional tickets may be requested. You will be notified via e-mail or telephone if extra tickets are available.
Tickets are not required for the university ceremony, baccalaureate mass or college pre-graduation reception.

When is rehearsal?
There is no general rehearsal so be sure to read the University and College Web site information as well as the information included in the Diederich College ticket packet, so you’re familiar with the event procedures.

Will my photo be taken at graduation?
A professional photographer will take individual pictures of the graduates as they receive their diplomas on stage. A second photo will be taken of each graduate just before he/she returns to the auditorium after crossing the stage.

Who do I tell that I’m not planning to attend the graduation ceremony?
May graduates must attend Commencement exercises. Permission to be absent may be requested only for serious reasons by writing to the dean of the student’s college by May 1.
