About Philip Seib
The Lucius W. Nieman Professor of Journalism at Marquette

 

Philip Seib is Lucius W. Nieman Professor of Journalism at Marquette University.

In this endowed chair (once held by former White House press secretary George Reedy), Seib focuses on media ethics, new technologies, political reporting, and the relationship between news coverage and public policy. He is the director of the Nieman Symposia and Nieman Lecture Series.

Seib is the author of many books, including Campaigns and Conscience: The Ethics of Political Journalism and Headline Diplomacy: How News Coverage Affects Foreign Policy. He has two new books scheduled for publication: Going Live: Doing the News Right in a Real-time Online World and The Moral Journalist: Covering the Post-Cold War World.

He is also a veteran print and television journalist, covering politics and social issues. His newspaper columns and television reporting have won numerous awards. He holds degrees from Princeton University and Southern Methodist University.
