The launch conference for Media, War, and Conflict will provide a scholarly forum for discussion of a wide range of topics that the journal will address:

- Dynamics of the public sphere
- Popular and visual cultures
- Credibility, legitimacy, and the security services
- Media ethics in the coverage of conflict
- Terrorism and counter-terrorism
- Intelligence operations and the media
- The media as instruments of war
- The media’s role in high and low-intensity conflict
- Conflict prevention and peacekeeping
- Photo and video journalism in wartime
- Documentation and commemoration of warfare
and other topics.
A selection of papers from the conference will be included in the first issues of Media, War, and Conflict.
