The Urban Journalism Workshop (UJW) is an intense two-week program focused on multimedia news gathering. Students use digital equipment to cover events, interview local news makers and learn about journalism in a variety of media. Media outlets throughout the country need reporters and editors to gather and present news to an increasingly diverse audience. Your perspective on culture and society is valuable in a fiercely competitive world of print, broadcast and online media. The workshop is here to help you start developing the professional skills you'll need to succeed. Marquette professors and staff members work with you one-on-one to gather news and produce an online web site, the Urban Voice. Many of our students go on to enter university programs and eventually work for major media outlets. So if you're considering a communication career, join us!

The Urban Journalism Workshop (UJW) is sponsored by the Dow Jones News Fund,Journal Communications and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. For more information, please contact Sheena Carey at sheena.carey@marquette.edu.
