On an annual basis, at the beginning of each calendar of employment year, all nonresident alien faculty, students and graduate assistants must complete the Foreign National Information Form to document their NRA employment status. The university is required by the government to collect and maintain this information.

It is important that you complete and return this form PDF Icon as soon as possible after your initial hire and again at the beginning of each successive calendar year to ensure that your employment status is properly documented and that your wages are properly taxed.

Please make sure you sign and date both sides. Instructions for the form are on page two.

Some countries have a tax treaty with the United States that provides for relief from federal income tax withholding for certain amounts of income for certain periods of time. The specific treaty benefits vary from country to country and is dependent on the specific type of visa held.

If you bring your Foreign National Information Form to the Comptroller’s Office and we determine treaty benefits are available to you, two additional forms are required: the Tax Treaty Affidavit and the 8233 Exemption from Withholding Form. These forms are available in the Comptroller’s Office. Please note that taxes will be deducted from your wages unless these forms are completed and on file in the Comptroller’s Office.
