- Career Decision
Making
$50.00 fee to all alumni more than one year out
Includes any or all of the following in conjunction with a career
counseling appointment. Individual appointments are limited
to three one-hour sessions.
For current students:
Sometimes a self-assessment exercise is helpful in determining
your strengths and goals. While the Career Services Center can
also help you incorporate the results of self-assessments into
your career planning, some services are offered through the Counseling
Center:
- SIGI-Plus
SIGI PLUS provides information to help people make important
career and educational decisions. Using research-based assessments
of career-relevant interests, abilities, and job values, SIGI
PLUS helps individuals consider career options that are a good
match.
- Strong Interest Inventory
This pencil and paper assessment compares students' interests
to the interests of people in certain occupations. For example,
you can see how similar your interests are to those of a doctor.
- Available: Counseling
Center (for freshmen and sophomores) and Career Services
Center (for juniors and seniors).
- Time allotment: 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete
plus 1-hour interpretation appointment. Please call ahead
to schedule.
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
This pencil and paper instrument is based on four basic aspects
of human personality: how we interact with the world and where
we direct our energy; the kind of information we naturally notice
and remember; how we make decisions; and whether we prefer to
live in a more structured way (making decisions) or in a more
spontaneous way (taking in information).
- Available: Counseling
Center (for freshmen and sophomores) and Career Services
Center (for juniors and seniors).
- Time allotment: 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete
plus 1-hour interpretation appointment. Please call ahead

- Career Planning Workbook
The Career Planning Workbook is designed to help you choose
a career path in an educated and deliberate manner. These exercises
assist in determining which career fields you may be best suited
for based on your interests, skills, and values. You will be
able to research and learn about the skills and knowledge required
by different career fields and determine how to gain those skills
and knowledge.
