ELIGIBILITY:
- U.S. CITIZEN OR A PERMANENT RESIDENT OF HISPANIC PARENTAGE
- BE ENROLLED IN COLLEGE WHICH WILL RESULT IN A BACHELOR’S DEGREE OR HIGHER
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- COMPLETED 15 HOURS OF COLLEGE WORK.
- Must be eligible to apply and receive Title IV fund using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All HSF scholarship applicants must also complete a FAFSA and apply for federal financial aid.
DEADLINE: mid-October
The purpose of the NHSF scholarships is to assist Hispanic American students in completing their higher education. NHSF scholarships are available on a competitive basis to undergraduate and graduate students of Hispanic background. In a twenty year span, over $28 million has been awarded to almost 29,000 outstanding students in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Average awards range from $1,000 to $3000.
SELECTION:
NHSF Scholarships are recommended for selection by review committees which represent different sections of the United States and evaluate applicants on the following criteria: Academic Achievement, Personal Qualities and Strengths, Financial Need, Letter of Recommendation. Other consideration is given to factors, which insure national representation of scholars by state, college and major.
