Modern studies of teaching and learning have shown clearly that teachers must be equipped with a variety of teaching strategies. Methods must be responsive to differences in a variety of factors, including subject matter, size and level of class, and learning styles of students. The Center will promote discussion and sponsor workshops on innovative teaching methods.
-To provide information and direct experience for teachers with regard to new and innovative developments in teaching, including distance learning and service learning.
-To assist teachers to develop useful evaluation systems for teaching, that is, systems that provide feedback on learning that leads to improved teaching.
-To enable teachers to provide valid documentation and assessment of student learning.
-To prepare graduate students to become effective teachers at multiple educational levels.
-To promote active involvement of students in the educational process and campus-wide learning.
-To equip teachers to teach a diverse student body, including students of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, as well as different learning styles. |
