Current D2L Issues

This is a list of known D2L issues that IT Services and Desire2Learn are currently working to resolve. There is no need to report these issues to the help desk. Recently resolved issues will also be noted.


  • OUTSTANDING December 20, 2007: Some users who use the HTML editor will find the "add image" and the "add object" icons missing. In these cases the only way to place images or objects on the page is to hand-code the HTML. Desire2Learn is developing a fix for this bug in a future release.

  • OUTSTANDING January 31, 2008 Faculty members who attempt to upload very large files to the Content page, or who attempt to do so over a slow internet connection, may find that the upload progress indicator never completes. In these cases the file upload has exceeded a 2 minute timeout limit and the upload is aborted. Faculty members who experience this problem can upload the file in the Files area, then link to the file from the Content page afterward.
    1. Go to your course site and click "edit course" in the upper right.
    2. Click "files."
    3. Click "upload" and upload the problematic file.
    4. When the upload is complete, go to the Content page and choose "new topic."
    5. Select "course file" and navigate to the file you uploaded.

  • OUTSTANDING March 3, 2008 Instructors who attempt to import grades from automatically scored tests (new TSAR) will find that the import does not work correctly. IT Services is working on a long-term fix for this problem, but in the meantime contact the IT Services Help Desk. Your case will be assigned to someone on staff who can fix the file and/or import your grades for you.

  • OUTSTANDING May 16, 2008 Terms, subjects and courses displayed in the My Courses widget on the My Home page are collapsible--but collapsing them is not persistent. Thus when you return to the page everything is expanded again. This is a known issue with the vendor and they are working on delivering a fix for the problem.
