Student Organizations
- Hispanic Dental Student Association (HDSA)
Founded in 1989 as a result of the increasing number of Hispanic students studying dentistry at Marquette University, HDSA helps to develop and maintain Hispanic culture within the university. HDSA focuses on the recruitment, enrollment, retention and graduation of Hispanic dental students, and promotes good oral health care to the Hispanic community.
- Student National Dental Association (SNDA)
The SNDA organization originated at Meharry Medical College in 1970. What has grown to become the largest minority student organization in the United States was initiated with the goal of improving health manpower distribution among the minority population. The founders of SNDA sought to develop an organization that would address the recruitment and retention of minority students. SNDA also serves as a supportive mechanism for minority dental students by providing a national network of communication between students. Regional and national meetings continue to be held annually to discuss these issues.
