Academic Support Services
Students
in need of academic assistance have access to an array of support
services including tutorial services, academic advising, and personal
counseling. The Office of Multicultural Affairs staff places a strong
emphasis on the retention and graduation or students from the School
of Dentistry.
- The tutorial service program encourages faculty
members to identify students needing academic support.
- Through
the Tutorial Assistance Program students are offered counseling
and assigned tutors to support their effort to maintain high academic
standards.
- Study skills sessions are required for any students
in academic difficulty. The sessions assist and guide students
towards successfully understanding the conceptual aspects or
specific courses.
- Upper class dental students are usually tutors
in the
basic science and pre-clinical courses.
- Information and/or seminars provided that highlight
information on national loan and loan repayment programs.
