MEDAL
- MEDAL (Medicine,
Engineering, Dentistry, Architecture, and Law) is a local outreach
program for minority disadvantaged high school students in
grades 9-12.
The program provides an opportunity
for participanting students to gain knowledge in Medicine,
Engineering, Dentistry, Architecture, or Law professions.
This is accomplished through:
- Academic and enrichment activities designed to help close
the achievement gap between economically disadvantaged students
and their peers.
- Recruitment of Metropolitan Milwaukee area high school
students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and who
have an interest in and potential to pursue a college education
in the aforementioned areas.
- Reinforcement in basic skills and competencies such as
reading, writing, speaking, listening, mathematics and reasoning.
- Providing information to parents and students on preparing
for and financing college.
- Providing opportunities for students to be exposed to college
life.

Marquette's School of Dentistry participates in the MEDAL
program in conjunction with the Department of Public Instruction,
