M.S. and Certificate in Orthodontics
Goals and Evaluations
- A proficient specialist in orthodontics
- To provide an appropriate
level of applied basic science knowledge in orthodontics
- Graduates
will be prepared for future certification by the American Board
of Orthodontics
- To develop research skills and the ability to evaluate
dental research
- To provide a program environment that is patient
centered, serves the student, faculty and staff, and contributes
to the advancement of knowledge.
- Treats and maintains an adequate mix of clinical problems with
sufficient caseload during the course of study
- Demonstrates proficiency
in diagnosis and treatment planning during formal case presentations
and at Board Case Presentation.
- Satisfactorily completes all formal
graduate courses and Seminars
- Publishing of original research in
a refereed journal
- Successfully complete a written examination
in the spring of the final year, modeled on the ABO Phase II Examination.
- Receive a Masters of Science degree in addition to a certificate
of specialty in orthodontics
