At the local
level, the School of Dentistry SRG sponsors "lunch and learn workshops" where
students are exposed to faculty research interests, the process
of proposal/manuscript preparation, critical review of the
scientific literature, the scientific process and research
methodology, ethical
issues in science, and recent developments in science and technology/clinical
treatment.
The SRG also participates in joint activities with
the Wisconsin chapter of the AADR, organized dentistry, and
other SRG
groups in the Midwest Region. Additionally, there is a strong
relationship between the School of Dentistry SRG and the Office of Research
and Graduate Studies
that has facilitated preparation of student research handbooks,
SRG brochures, and availability of intramural funding for
students wishing to pursue research experiences.
These internally-funded
fellowships provide for student stipends and research supplies.
In addition, the SRG together with the Office of Research
and
Graduate Studies provides students with funds to cover
travel expenses to
all meetings and symposia.
