The official mission statement of the Alumni Association reads that we are to support the School of Dentistry, its alumni and students by providing a welcoming and friendly environment for students, as well as connecting with alumni to help create a culture of giving back to their alma mater.
What that means in real-life terms is that we host reunions and an awards ceremony for outstanding alumni. We have receptions at dental meetings, including the ADA Annual Session and the Chicago Midwinter Meeting. This year, we offered two new alumni events: a CE course coupled with a Milwaukee Brewers game and tailgate party and a welcoming party at Milwaukee's Bradley Center prior to a Marquette basketball game.
For first-year dental students, we host welcoming events at premier Milwaukee venues, including such activities as a reception at the Pabst Mansion, the Milwaukee Art Museum or a Milwaukee River cruise. These outings give new students a glimpse of the city and allow them to engage in conversation with dental faculty, alumni and staff. It has proven a great way to introduce them to Milwaukee while simultaneously easing concerns about their new environment.
We also host a panel discussion for upper classmen to talk to recent graduates about different practice options.
What we want to know now is, what can we do for you? Do you have any suggestions to help us improve our connections with alumni? Do you have any ideas about improving our association? Please let us know your thoughts; they are both valuable and necessary for us to maintain a strong Alumni Association.
You can email me directly at email@example.com, or contact Carol Trecek, Director of CE/Alumni Relations by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks in advance for your input, and please join us at one of our events soon.
