Alpha Sigma Nu Alumni Club -Washington, DC

Mission Statement : The Alpha Sigma Nu (ASN) Alumni Club of Washington D.C. encourages our alumni's lifelong commitment to the ASN values of scholarship, loyalty, and service and the ideals of Jesuit education and provides concrete opportunities to nurture that commitment:

- Programs designed to foster excellence in the intellectual arena and growth in Ignatian spirituality

- Opportunities to give to the community around us through service projects

- Social contacts with other ASN Alumni hailing from Jesuit universities across the country, a very diverse mixture of professionals striving to live the values of scholarship, loyalty, and service.

The success of our Club will depend on members sharing in the work of various committees that will play an integral role in Club’s activities. Although the President and the Board may elect to establish additional committees in the future, it decided that the four below are necessary as we begin organizing the Club. Below are brief descriptions of the Board’s expectations for the four committees. These descriptions are mere suggestions and in no way limit the scope of any committee’s work.

Membership: The Committee will work at increasing Club membership among nearly 2,000 ASN alumni in the Greater DC area. Particular effort will be made to identify and approach ASN alumni moving into the area about the Club and its activities. The Committee also will help create Club programs that afford opportunities for social and professional interaction among alumni. Here's what we plan.

Programs: The Committee will develop various activities and events for Club members of both a social and educational nature. The Committee also will conceive, plan, and implement special events that highlight the values of Jesuit higher education. Such events may be one-time efforts or offered as a series and may be sponsored solely by the Club or co-sponsored with other Jesuit institutions.

Service: The Committee will primarily work to inform Club members of various service opportunities in the Greater DC area. In addition, the Committee may coordinate Club-organized, including co-sponsored, service projects in which members can participate.

Liaison: The Committee will develop and maintain contact with area ASN chapters, encouraging Club representation at their activities and their attendance at Club events. It also will develop and maintain contact with Jesuit institutions in the area and explore contacts with other ASN chapters and alumni clubs, especially in other countries.
