Professor Swank's teaching and research focus on the developed democracies. His specializations include comparative and international political economy, comparative public policy, and European politics. He has published in these areas in journals such as American Political Science ReviewAmerican Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political StudiesEuropean Journal of Political ScienceInternational OrganizationPolitical Studies, and World Politics. Professor Swank is former President of the American Political Science Association's Organized Section in Comparative Politics. He has served on the editorial boards of American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of European Public Policy and other journals. His current research focuses on the politics of income inequality and redistribution in contemporary postindustrial democracies.
