Dear DIRS students,
On May 3, 2006, the Marquette University Board of Trustees approved the inauguration of a master’s degree in dispute resolution for fall, 2006. This is a significant development for the study of dispute resolution at Marquette and for the field generally. I look forward to the years ahead with great anticipation and enthusiasm as I hope you do.
If you are currently a Certificate student, and wish to be admitted to the Master's program, the Graduate School requires that a new application be submitted. You do not need to resubmit transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation and personal statements if you have already done so. Further, if you wish to apply for financial aid for the Master's program, please indicate so on the new application.
If you have not been admitted to the certificate program and have been taking DIRS courses and would like to be admitted to either the certificate or master’s program, submit an application to the Graduate School, using the admission criteria outlined for the certificate program. You may do so immediately.
For Certificate graduates: Please remember to file an application for receiving the Certificate with the Graduate School if you plan to graduate soon. The Graduate School application for graduation can be found at: http://www.grad.mu.edu/forms/applygraduation.shtml
This is a time of growth and transition for the program. We will do everything to assist you in the admission process. Please bear with us. Some questions have yet to be answered, but we will be continuously posting information on the Center website.
Please check it frequently.
I look forward to seeing you in the fall. This master’s degree will be only one of seventeen such degrees nationally and only one of four that provide an option of combining it with a law degree. It is an adventure for us all.
Sincerely,
Eva M. Soeka
