Practicum in Dispute Resolution
Required of all students; advanced students conduct mediations with the guidance of experienced, faculty mediators within a broad range of settings. Placements will be arranged on an individual basis. Performance in this course is assessed using S/U grades. Prereq: DIRS 203 and 207 and Consent of Program Director
Milwaukee County Small Claims Courts: Students
mediate issues ranging from horse trading and used cars to contractor-homeowner
disputes and "divorce without marriage," in which separated, non-married
domestic partners negotiate division of common expenses and
property.
Waukesha Mediation Center: Students interested in a practicum with the Waukesha Mediation Center must sign-up for and attend a training session at the Waukesha Mediation Center. Students also must receive authroization for this practicum from Center for Dispute Resolution Education Director Eva Soeka.
