Summer Enrichment Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Are you interested in graduate school in clinical mental health counseling?

The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) at Marquette University provides rising college juniors and seniors with the opportunity to learn about the clinical mental health counseling field and determine if a career as a clinical mental health counselor might be right for them. Also, it provides an opportunity for clinical mental health students who have been accepted into but not yet matriculated into our program an opportunity to learn skills to prepare them for graduate study in our program and gain an overview of the counseling profession. What does the Health Careers Opportunity Program’s (HCOP) College Summer Enrichment Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling provide?

Undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds an opportunity to:

    • Explore their interests and learn about the mental health field
    • Gain hands-on counseling skills training
    • Find out what it is like to be a practicing counselor
    • Receive mentorship from faculty
    • Connect with current graduate students

Program Dates

Our early acceptance date is February 1 of the current school year. We will continue to accept applications until the program is full.

The six-week summer program begins Thursday, June 14 and ends Friday, July 27.

Cost

The summer curriculum is free, and students receive a stipend to help offset lost summer wages and cover room and board. Travel reimbursement for one round trip to Milwaukee may be granted for economic hardship cases.
