The College of Education received word this week from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction that their request for approval of a Biology program was accepted. The proposal for the new licensure program at Marquette was proposed to the university in summer of 2008 and subsequently to the DPI this past February. The College is very pleased to see it reach fruition.
"This biology program approval is an important and essential addition to our previously approved STEM licensure majors of chemistry and physics," said Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, Associate Dean and Director of Teacher Education.
The new program will take effect beginning in Fall of 2009, and will allow middle and secondary level education majors to receive certification in Biology.
