On January 1st, Dr. Alan Burkard began his term as Chair of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology. He succeeds Dr. Todd Campbell, who completed four distinguished years in office this December.
Dr. Burkard holds the rank of Associate Professor and also directs the School Counseling program. He joined the College of Education faculty in 1999, and last year received the College of Education’s first Faculty Excellence Award. Alan is a past-president of the Wisconsin School Counselor Association, and recently achieved President-Elect status for the American School Counselor Association Governing Board.
Dr. Campbell will return to the CECP faculty ranks, where he can devote himself more fully to the operation of the 7Cs Clinics and Behavioral Health Research Services. He will continue to serve as Coordinator for the Addiction-Mental Health track in CECP.
In commenting on the transition, Dean Bill Henk noted, “Both our College and the CECP Department owe Dr. Campbell a huge debt of thanks for his tireless service, and we’re fortunate to have another very capable leader in Dr. Burkard to take over the reins. We wish them the very best in their new roles.”
