Attendees of the College of Education graduation recognition event will be treated to a keynote address given by Women’s Basketball Coach, Terri Mitchell. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 16, at the Weasler Auditorium.
Since becoming the fourth women's basketball coach in Marquette University history, Terri Mitchell has paved a path of excellence. Coach Mitchell owns more wins, has a better winning percentage and has taken her teams to more post-season action--six NCAA Tournaments and four WNIT's-- than any previous Marquette women's basketball coach.
In addition to her basketball duties, Coach Mitchell gives back to her community through regular speaking engagements and participation in charitable events. Her message centers on five primary principles: belief, commitment, maturity, respect and thankfulness. These principles form the foundation for not only Terri's coaching, but also her personal life. They have also become the basis for a motivational breakfast series for Milwaukee area business women entitled “Breakfast with Terri.”
A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Mitchell was a four-year letter winner and team co-captain at Duquesne University. After an outstanding career with the Dukes, Mitchell graduated cum laude with a psychology degree in 1989. She began her coaching career serving as a graduate assistant at Arizona State during the 1989-90 season.
