2017 Alumni Award Winners

Congratulations to the College of Education Award Recipients for National Alumni Weekend! The ceremony took place on Thursday, April 28, 2017 in the Alumni Memorial Union, and honored the following three Marquette College of Education Alumni:

QuickDistinguished Alumna of the Year Award
Joanne Geritz Quick, Grad ’62

Wauwatosa, Wis.

It was a different world when Dr. Joanne Quick walked across the Commencement stage in 1962. Cited as a significant time of change for women in the 20th century, Joanne credits her school leadership degree from the College of Education for preparing her to “accept the challenges of high school administration.” Read more.

 

CatlinCounselor Education and Counseling Psychology Achievement Award
Dr. Lynn A. Catlin, Grad ’02, Grad ’06

Madison, Wis.

Dr. Lynn Catlin’s innovative approach to counseling and psychology first took root in a place few would describe as innovative. While helping provide basic shelter and work to homeless men at the Guest House of Milwaukee, Lynn turned an internship into her life’s work. Read more.

Dr. Jennifer C. Mendez, Grad ’86

Tenacity may not be the first word that comes to mind when looking at this self-proclaimed “height-challenged individual,” but that is the word Dr. Jennifer Mendez’s peers use to describe her. Read more.

In Celina Pauly’s world as an elementary school counselor, she never knows what issue is going to pop up in her doorway. She credits critical thinking as the key skill she learned at Marquette to help in those moments. Read more.
