SOE Mourns Loss of EDPL Graduate Student, Jennifer Bukosky

Released: 4/28/08

The School of Education mourns the tragic loss of Jennifer Bukosky (Bella), who died in a fatal car crash on Friday, April 25. The crash claimed Jennifer, her unborn daughter, and her ten-year-old daughter Courtney, a fourth grader at Summit Elementary in the Oconomowoc School District. Her 12-year-old son, Zach, survived. Another young girl, also in the vehicle, has been reported alive and under care in a local hospital.

Jennifer, a popular teacher and administrator at Oconomowoc High School, was enrolled as a student in Marquette University's Administrative Leadership program in the School of Education seeking licensure as a principal. Having stayed home to raise her children, Jennifer returned to teaching in 2007 and started her first year as vice principal. Around the same time, she married Michael Bukosky, the owner of a local pet store where her son bought supplies for his reptiles.

Funeral arrangements have been announced. The first visitation will be Wednesday for student from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 Summit Ave. in Oconomowoc. On Thursday, a regular visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial for Bukosky and her unborn child will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 211 S. Main St., Oconomowoc.

More information is available at JSOnline. Jordan Raether, an Oconomowoc High School junior, has also set up a Facebook group page in honor of Jennifer Bukosky. More than 200 students had joined the page as of Saturday night.
