School of Education Celebrates 2008 Alumni Award Winners

The following alumni from the School of Education will be honored at the School of Education Awards Conferral and Reception on Thursday, April 24, 2008 in the Henke Lounge of the Alumni Memorial Union. This event is part of the university wide Alumni National Awards Weekend, a celebration honoring alumni from every college who represent the heart, soul, and spirit of Marquette.

Sarah Jerome
Distinguished Alumna Award

Sarah D. Jerome, Ph.D., Supt. Cert. ’90

Sarah is superintendent of the Arlington Heights (Ill.) school district and current president of the American Association of School Administrators.

   
James Larson
Counseling and Educational Psychology Achievement Award

James D. Larson, Grad ’90

An author and a leader in school violence prevention, Jim is professor of psychology and director of the School of Psychology Training Program at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.

   
George Lowery

Educational Policy and Leadership Achievement Award
George R. Lowery, Grad ’80

George is professor of secondary education at Roosevelt University (Ill.). He has worked as a consultant and served as a visiting lecturer for universities around the country.


   
Tina Manzo Owen

Young Alumna Award
Tina Manzo Owen, Arts ’98

Tina is lead teacher for The Alliance School of Milwaukee, a charter school she helped to start that provides safe harbor for students who are harassed.
