  • 12:30—the doors to the Weasler Auditorium open to the public (candidates should plan to arrive early so that they can be organized for the processional)
  • 12:55—All graduation and certification candidates will process into the auditorium.
  • 1:00—The recognition program begins
  • 2:30—Reception in and outside of the Weasler Auditorium
  • 3:30—Reception ends

Where does the SOE graduation recognition take place?

  • The Tony and Lucille Weasler Auditorium
  • 1506 West Wisconsin Avenue (next to the AMU)
  • The reception will be held in the lobby of the Weasler Auditorium and in an enclosure that will be located adjacent to the auditorium.

Additional information :

The purpose of this event is to individually honor our candidates for graduation in the following areas:

  • Undergraduate certification
  • Post-baccalaureate certification
  • Master’s in Counseling
  • Master’s in Educational Psychology
  • Master of Arts and Master of Education in Educational Policy and Leadership
  • Doctorate in Counseling Psychology
  • Doctorate in Education

This is our School ceremony, and as such, all candidates for graduation will walk across the stage beginning with the undergraduates and ending with our doctoral candidates (official hooding of May doctoral candidates occurs at the university commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 18 at the Bradley Center).

Please invite your parents, grandparents, guardians, spouses/significant others to this event. There are no tickets for this event, and you are not limited in the number of people who can attend. However, since there are a finite number of seats in the auditorium, we respectfully ask that you limit your guests to your immediate family.

All candidates for graduation should wear graduation apparel (cap and gown).

Please note that attendance at the School of Education recognition ceremony is not mandatory.  

Also note that attendance at this ceremony does NOT exempt you from the university commencement ceremony on Sunday.

If you are a candidate for May graduation and cannot attend the Sunday commencement ceremony, please exercise professional courtesy and contact your college office. For undergraduates, please contact either Interim Dean John Pustejovsky in the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences or Dr. Pauly in the William and Mary Diederich College of Communication. Graduate level candidates should call or email Erin Fox at the Graduate School. Doctoral candidates should be sure to notify their dissertation chairs if they do not plan to attend.

In the past, we have been allowed to distribute diplomas for the May master-level graduates. Due to policy changes and the officially listed date of May 18 on these documents, ALL May master’s candidates due their diploma will be required to contact the Registrar’s office to arrange for mailing of that document (there is no postal charge to you for mailing). You are also allowed to personally pick up your diploma if you have made arrangements with the Registrar’s office (general telephone number: 414.288.7034) Here is the master’s diploma web link for your convenience:
