7C's Clinic Welcomes Changes in Staff
Released: 2/22/07
The 7Cs Community Counseling Clinic is a partnership between Marquette University and the Guest House of Milwaukee, Inc., a shelter for homeless men in Milwaukee. Located within the Guest House, the 7Cs Clinic provides addiction-mental health treatment at no cost to clients. Through this clinic, individuals facing difficult circumstances – e.g., homelessness, joblessness, co-existing psychiatric disorders, family disturbance – receive comprehensive treatment, students receive “real world” clinical training, and research is conducted that informs others in this important endeavor to provide the most effective treatment.
Marquette University School of Education is pleased to welcome both new and returning staff of the 7Cs Community Counseling Clinic in partnership with the Guest House of Milwaukee.
Brian Shoup, M.S. has been hired as Chief of Operations of the 7Cs Clinic. Brian brings 30+ years of experience managing mental health/addiction services and will make a wonderful addition to the 7C’s team.
The clinic also welcomes Valerie Allen, CADCIII. Valerie has worked part-time for the clinic, but will now work as a full-time counselor. She brings a wealth of experience in addiction treatment and has also worked on a federally funded research grant.
Lynn Catlin, Ph.D., has been in a post-doc position as the Associate Director of the Clinic since July of 2006. However, recently, the clinic has been able to restructure her position to align more fully with her interests. Dr. Catlin will now be acting Director of Training and Clinical Services. She already provides tremendous supervision and guidance for our students and staff and her new role will allow her to focus even more on these areas.
In addition, the clinic has created two additional full-time counselor positions – Vincent Vogt (recent Marquette University counseling graduate) and Hilary Pick (a current practicum student who will be completing her course work in May).
