Dr. John Augenstein Honored with Vatican II Award for Distinguished Service

Dr. John Augenstein, former Dean of the School of Education, was the recipient of a 2007 Vatican II Award for Distinguished Service. He was recognized in the category of Service to Education at an event held at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on November 22nd. The award was presented by Archbishop Dolan.
Dr. Augenstein retired from the School of Education after 43 years in full-time education including four years as Dean of the School. He is currently conducting research and writing a history of Catholic school superintendents and their national organization. He is also President of a nonprofit board, Creative Sharp Presentations, a literacy program centered on the arts for grades 2-5. The Vatican II Awards for Distinguished Service were initiated by
Milwaukee Archbishop Rembert G. Weakland, O.S.B. in 1991 to honor those who
reflect the goals of Vatican Council II through their engagement with the world and witness to the justice and love of Jesus Christ.
