Bake Sale Raises Funds for Student's Nephew

Released: 10/28/06

The Bake Sale held in the Schroeder Health Complex on October 23-24th was no ordinary event.   This event, which raised over $600, was held to help raise money for Gavin Winslow - the seven-month-old nephew of a Marquette University Counseling and Educational Psychology student.

Born with end-stage renal failure, seven-month-old Gavin Winslow currently awaits a kidney transplant, without which he will not survive. Gavin's family is hoping to raise $100,000 to pay for Gavin's transplant, medical bills, and the additional transplant he is likely to need in 15-20 years.

Theresa Jahangir, External Outreach Chair for the COEP Graduate Student Organization, thanks all who participated for their support and kindness. As she stated, it was truly touching to see students, faculty and staff come together for this very worthy cause.
