Kathleen Cepelka Nominated for ¡Aquí! Milwaukee Award

Released: 6/12/06

Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, alumna and long-time instructor at Marquette University, was recently nominated for the ¡Aquí! Milwaukee awards in recognition for her dedication to teaching and tireless devotion to the Hispanic community.  The award for Post-Secondary Education was presented to Dr. Cepelka in April at the ¡Aquí! education forum, which brought educators, community leaders, business leaders and politicians together to begin the dialogue of how to improve the performance of our Hispanic youth in academics.

Dr. Cepelka is currently principal at Catholic Memorial High School. She is a graduate of the doctoral program in Educational Leadership and has taught educational leadership courses in the School of Education for over 10 years.  J. Patrick Farrell, vice principal at Catholic Memorial and also the individual who nominated Dr. Cepelka for this honor, notes that "Dr. Cepelka just makes everyone around her just a little bit better. She is nonjudgmental and she always encourages people to be the best they can be."

¡Aquí! Milwaukee is a magazine aimed at southeastern Wisconsin's Hispanic population.
