POSITION TITLE:      Education Director

 

SUPERVISOR:      Executive Director

 

SALARY:       Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Range: $16,000 - $24,000 for full-time flexible work.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
    

  1. Experience in the elementary urban classroom setting
  2. Ability to connect with central city children and adults
  3. Post-graduate experience. A Masters Degree in Education is encouraged.
  4. Ability to find innovative ways to develop, administer and execute a top notch youth specific educational program.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Include the Arthur Ashe Essay Contest in the curriculum of each participating site. The Education Director is responsible for the administration and collection of this essay contest at each site.
  2. Supervise all aspects of the education component of the TEAM program.
  3. Hire, train and supervise TEAM Educator site Director, tutors and part-time staff to insure they handle their job responsibilities.
  4. Develop written session objectives for the educational aspect of the TEAM program.
  5. Prepare the academic curriculum by age and ability level.
  6. Oversee parental involvement including family nights and parental communication.
  7. Insure academic program objectives are met quarterly.
  8. Collaborate with the Tennis Director to identify suitable sites for the program.
    • Visit and evaluation potential sites.
    • Meet and communicate with on-site staff on a weekly basis.
    • Accommodate physical site requirements.
  9. Prepare overall Academic program calendar quarterly including special events.
  10. Collaborate with Tennis Director to set schedule for sites.
  11. Train the academic tutors to:
    • Teach children how to read.
    • Teach basics of academics.
  12. Communicate with Tennis Director regarding the tennis component at each site.
  13. Work with academic site directors and tutors to achieve a professional, role model type staff.
    • Approve all hourly time cards.
    • Conduct a pre-session and post-session meeting with site directors and tutors.
  14. Organize, administer and conduct session-ending clinics and educational rallies.
  15. Attend MTEF Outreach Committee meetings and Board of Director meetings or furnish written reports.
  16. Maintain and submit site rosters.
  17. Maintain site expense records.
  18. Prepare and present an education budget of each of the four TEAM sessions to the executive director no less than two weeks prior to the start of each session.
  19. Maintain proper tennis reliability waivers.
  20. Assist with the Tennis Ball fundraiser and other community related activities.
  21. Together with the Tennis Director oversee the MTEF Junior Aces Committee, including implementing a parental advisory board.
  22. Build the core group of TEAM tutors by looking for local teachers interested in joining our group of TEAM tutors.
  23. Order supplies for the academic component of TEAM.
  24. Write TEAM articles to be published in the newsletter, website and marketing materials.
  25. Build the infrastructure of the education program. This includes recruiting potential colleges to be involved.
  26. Develop site – appropriate curriculum.
  27. Track individual students progress so that we can provide potential donors with statistics on the academic component of the program.
