OREC is designed to promote and encourage significant advances in clinical research through coordinated endeavors between Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. These opportunities are afforded to faculty and students at Marquette University and to faculty, fellows, and residents in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin. OREC builds upon prior successful collaborations in the fields of orthopaedic biomechanics, biomaterials, rehabilitation engineering, and human motion analysis.

Laboratories of OREC include:

Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory
Directed by Dr. Mei Wang, this lab is designed and maintained to support basic science and applied research projects in orthopaedic biomechanics. Research methods often encompass in-vitro experiments, mechanical testing and computer modeling.

Human Motion Analysis Laboratory
This lab on the MCW campus supports a broad range of clinical and research oriented projects. It is structured to evaluate adult, foot and ankle, pediatric, sports medicine and total joint patients during ambulation and other activities.

Biomaterials and Histopathology Laboratory
This lab complex, directed by Dr. Jeffrey Toth with facilities on both campuses, supports basic science, clinical research and research training in the areas of tissue engineering, bone grafts and substitutes, ceramic biomaterials and histology.
