Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories
Our four laboratories dedicated to undergraduate teaching provide a rich and unique capability for hands-on laboratory education. Collectively, they directly serve 9 BIEN laboratory courses. They are also available for various senior design team projects.
Biomechanical Engineering Lab
Dedicated to the BIEN 191-192 Biomechanical Engineering Design Lab 1-2 sequence and available for BIEN 146-147 senior design projects, instrumentation includes 9 PC/SGI computers, a MTS materials testing machine, a force platform, and various sensors.
Biomedical Instrumentation Design Teaching Laboratory
Dedicated to the BIEN 188-189 senior bioelectronics lab sequence, this lab houses 9 complete workstations, each with PCs, a function generator and oscilloscope, etc. Instumentation includes physiologic monitoring (e.g., ECG) and biotelemetry.
Biocomputer Engineering Laboratory Our newest laboratory, this laboratory include 11 workstations, each with both PC and microcomputer capabilities as well as signal conditioning and oscilloscopes. The primary target is design of embedded computing for medical devices.
Biomedical Computing and Physiology Laboratory Dedicated to computers for BIEN 185 (Computer Applications in Biomedical Engineering), this laboratory of 12 computers give out student unique access to class projects and laboratory sessions.
