TSERC Mission Statement

The Thermofluid Science and Energy Research Center (TSERC) is an organization linking Marquette engineering with local industry. The mission of the TSERC is the more efficient and economical operation of energy conversion systems and heat/mass exchange equipment, by retrofit as well as new developments. Typical objectives are (i) finding improved configurations of equipment, (ii) optimizing the design parameters of equipment and reconfigured system, as well as, (iii) optimal operation of existing facilities.

To adapt to the needs of industry, the focus of effort has shifted from analysis toward component modeling and improvement with emphasis on its prospective impact on system efficiency and cost effectiveness. A natural complement is the development of engineering simulation software for component equipment and energy systems in general. Such software development also leads to supplementary engineering analysis software. The TSERC has also incorporated the analysis and modeling of thermofluid phenomena by use of Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer (CFD) techniques.
