ASME Human Powered Vehicles (PPV) Team Ranks Nationally

Traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, Marquette’s Student Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) placed fifth out of 18 college entrees in the 2006 Human Powered Vehicle East Coast Challenge.

Human Powered Vehicles (HPV’s) are aerodynamic, highly engineered vehicles for land, water, or air travel. Vehicles at this year’s national competition were judged on design, safety, and performance in two stages: 1) the preparation of a comprehensive design report, and 2) design presentation and performance. Dr. Scott Goldsborough, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, served as faculty advisor for design team members Michael Gorrilla, Douglas Temeyer, John Dupree, Matt Davis, NorAzman Jusof, and Khairuzzaman Zakaria with the latter four students serving as the race team, along with Michelle Bannick and Matt Kaminecki.

The Marquette HPV was built entirely in your College’s state-of-the-art Discovery Learning Center. Congratulations to all for your outstanding efforts … and for making us proud!
