of ENGL 32, following the development of American literature from
the Civil War to the present. Approaches vary with instructor;
authors studied are likely to include Bishop, Cather, Chopin,
T.S. Eliot, Ellison, Erdrich, Faulkner, Freeman, Frost, Gilman,
Hemingway, Hughes, Hurston, James, Jewett, Morrison, O’Connor,
Pound, Stein, Twain, Wharton, and Wright.
Typically
offered spring term.
Prereq: ENGL 1 or equiv. and ENGL 2 or equiv.
