OUR MISSION: The EOP Pre-College Division supports, guides, and empowers first-generation, income-eligible young men and women as they strive for successful high school completion, post-secondary enrollment and graduation, and life-affirming careers and futures.
Upward Bound (UB)
- Upward Bound prepares high school students who are low-income and first-generation college students to enter and successfully complete college.
- The program works with students, their parent(s)/guardian(s), and their school to help develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and the responsible nature needed to build a strong foundation for high school, college, and life.
- Preparing students to enter and successfully complete college, it offers specialized classes, tutorials, college placement assistance, career development labs, academic and personal counseling, and social/cultural activities and trips. Students are recruited from the Milwaukee area during their eighth grade year.
Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS)
- Upward Bound Math & Science prepares high school students who are low-income and first-generation college students to enter and successfully complete college.
- The program works with students, their parent(s)/guardian(s), and their school to help develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and the responsible nature needed to build a strong foundation for high school, college, and life.
- UBMS is designed for students with a serious interest in math and science careers.
- UBMS offers specialized math, science, writing and technology classes.
- Students are recruited from the Milwaukee area during their ninth grade year.
The programs serve low-income and first-generation students who reside in Milwaukee’s central city as defined by zip codes 53204, -05, -06, -08, -09, -10, -12, -15, -16, -18, and 53233 or who attend one of the program’s target schools.
Both pre-college programs include a summer and a school-year component.
