PREVIOUS PARTICIPANT COMMENTS:

"I enjoyed the Retreat for Busy People immensely for two reasons: I was blessed with a wonderful spiritual advisor that enriched my faith and I also had someone to encourage me to pray every week. My spiritual advisor was Fr. JJ. I had never met him before and was nervous about sharing a personal journey with a stranger, but he quickly put me at ease. He encouraged me in so many gentle ways to be the woman that God intended me to be. He is such an inspiration and I only hope that someday God will shine through me in the way God does in Fr. JJ. While Fr. JJ was such a surprise personal blessing, I also greatly benefitted from the accountability the program offered to ensure that I prayed each day. I knew that I would have to tell Fr. JJ whether I failed or not and that was the incentive I needed to pray every day. I failed to pray every day, of course, and Fr. JJ was so gentle and told me that it was okay. He showed me how my prayer life didn’t have to always look a certain way. He showed me a sort of freedom that I needed to take my prayer life to the next level. I highly recommend the Retreat for Busy People to my fellow colleagues and hope they have a similar, positive experience."

"My experience of the “Retreat for Busy People” was one of unexpected insights and joy and peace. I still can’t quite believe that we’re all offered this opportunity to talk frankly with someone about how we view God and our relationship with him. I was given simple “homework” to do each week, and books and Bible passages to reflect on. It all gave me new and interesting ways to see a loving God at work in my life and in the world. I really do think people would be amazed by this simple but profound experience."

"One thing I appreciated about the retreat was the accountability of weekly direction that kept me focused as well as the daily commitment to 15 minutes of prayer."

"I have attended this retreat several times in the past. It is truly a great opportunity to be able to spend one hour a week with a spiritual adviser as I prepared for Easter. Each retreat was unique as I have enjoyed different retreat leaders each time. The retreat leaders follow your lead as to what makes sense for your spiritual journey. Whether you are going through a difficult time in your life or looking for that focused spiritual direction, I highly recommend it. We are fortunate to have this available at Marquette."
