Marissa Evans, a senior, was named the 2013 Student Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists. Evans, from El Cajon, Calif., will be recognized for her achievements this summer at the NABJ’s 38th Annual Convention and Career Fair in Orlando.
Founder and president of the student NABJ chapter at Marquette and founder of InHue magazine, an online publication focused on health issues that impact people of color, Evans will graduate this weekend with a journalism degree and minors in political science and entrepreneurship.
