What We Do
The Marquette University Student Employment Services is one of the
units within the Office of Student Financial Aid. Student Employment
Services has the following responsibilities:
- To help students secure employment for the purpose of
offsetting educational expenses.
- To help students obtain career related and practical
work experience.
- To provide a listing (through JobConnection) of on and off campus
job vacancies, including part-time, full-time, summer, holiday,
and JLD (Job Location and Development) positions.
- To ensure university wide compliance with student
employment policies and procedures as established by the
university, and to recommend and implement
revisions.
- To recommend and implement procedures for compliance
with federal, state, and university regulations regarding
student employment, Federal Work Study, and/or the Job
Location and Development programs.
- To help student employees understand their
responsibilities and commitment to their jobs and their
employer.
In order to carry out these responsibilities, Student
Employment Services reviews all reclassification requests,
pay increases, new classifications, titles, etc., and
prepares reports regarding student employment for federal,
state, and university entities. The office assists
departments with their efforts to comply with appropriate
regulations by monitoring payroll earnings, records,
etc.
