Marquette University is an independent, co-educational
institution of higher learning founded in 1881 by members
of the Society of Jesus, a Catholic religious order established
in 1549 by St. Ignatius Loyola. The University is named
after father Jacques Marquette (1637-1675), a French Jesuit
missionary and explorer in North America. Father Marquette's
spirit of exploration and discovery and his dedicated
service to others are exemplified in Marquette University's
unflagging commitment to excellence in higher education
in the Jesuit tradition.
The University of Veracruz is a state institution of

universities in México because of its regional

and artistic endeavors. The main campus of the University
of Veracruz is located in Xalapa, the capital of the state
of Veracruz.
