As a Catholic Jesuit university, Marquette maintains a firm commitment to human rights and human dignity as an expression of cura personalis. The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center is to provide a space dedicated to the pursuit of dialogue, growth, and empowerment around issues of gender, sex, and sexuality.

By promoting healthy sexuality for all, the GSRC fosters a campus climate in which the dignity of human persons and the diversity of gender identity and sexuality are respected and celebrated. Manifesting this commitment, the GSRC advocates for Marquette’s LGBTQ community members and allies.

It provides advocacy and a safe and welcoming space for victims of sexual assault and other gender-related violence, harassment, and discrimination. It also promotes and sustains scholarship on gender and sexuality, both local and global, with a focus on the intersections of gender and sexuality with race and ethnicity, economic status, religion, and culture. And, it works to develop leadership in these areas in students, faculty, and staff. Through education, programming, and collaboration both intra- and extramural, the GSRC fosters opportunities for total campus and community involvement.
