Engagement Officer, Chicago
The Engagement Officer, Chicago develops and manages a comprehensive strategic engagement plan of alumni programming, including small-and large-scale events (high-end and broad-based), Chicago Alumni Club activities and external outreach efforts to individuals and targeted, niche groups within not only the city of Chicago, but also the surrounding suburbs. This plan is informed by regular research acquired through focus groups and working with a research team as a tool to better understand the interests and profiles of our constituents in the Chicagoland area. Particular investment is given to the planning and execution of CIRCLES events, Marquette's marquee professional networking program, and the development of targeted constituencies, such as young alumni, parents and women.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A proven track record of successfully managing volunteers, both individuals and large, diverse groups, and exhibiting very strong attention to detail is a must. The successful candidate will have an event planning background (at least three years) and be able to effectively organize and troubleshoot when necessary. One must possess solid communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Evening and weekend hours along with some travel is required. A strong understanding of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs (geography, neighborhoods, schools, event venues, community/civic organizations) is necessary to successfully plan for and execute the engagement requirements of this position. Previous experience in a non-profit environment and a fundraising background are a plus.
