Meeting: Friday, April 27th 4:00 PM Cudahy 114 followed by a celebratory Happy Hour at Muprhy's Irish Pub
Hello!
It appears to be that time of year again! With the spring semester coming to an end, the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is beginning to make the necessary preparations for the 2012-2013 academic year.
On Friday, April 27th at 4:00 PM in Cudahy 114, the GSO will hold its final meeting to address committee representative, and executive positions. These positions are a great way to get involved on campus, represent the GSO, meet faculty at Marquette, and meet fellow graduate students. Committee representative positions will be appointed and GSO executive positions will be elected.
For those interested in serving on a faculty committee, we ask that you provide a resume or CV with a written brief application statement (1-2 paragraphs):
1) Why are you interested in serving on this committee?
2) How does this committee relate to your professional development?
3) What key qualifications make you a good fit for this committee?
We also ask that you attend the meeting on the 27th to discuss your interests. The GSO Executive committee will make appointments by Tuesday, May 8th, in which you will be contacted via your Marquette e-mail. For more information about being a graduate student representative and the committees please visit the GSO website: http://www.marquette.edu/grad/GSO/gso_studentRepresentatives.shtml
The GSO will also be holding elections for GSO Chair and Vice Chair. For those interested in serving on the GSO executive committee, we ask that you provide a resume or CV with a written brief application statement (1-2 paragraphs):
1) Why are you interested in serving in a GSO executive position?
2) What key qualifications make you a good fit for this position?
Because executive positions are elected positions, we ask that you attend the meeting on April 27thto discuss your interests and be present for elections. The GSO Chair and Vice Chair are responsible for committee representative appointments, event coordination and sponsoring, graduate information sharing, and serving as a liaison between Marquette graduate students and the University.
These positions are now up for nominations, self or otherwise, via e-mail. Please e-mail all resumes/CVs and application statement items to gso@marquette.edu no later than Wednesday, April 25th at 5:00 PM. It is highly recommended to attend the meeting on Friday, April 27th; however, if you are unable to do so, please contact the GSO executive committee via e-mail with the necessary items and information.
Again, our meeting will be held Friday, April 27th at 4:00 PM in Cudahy 114. In celebration of our new graduate school representatives and executive committee, as well as our graduating students, we will hold a Happy Hour at Murphy’s at 5:00 PM, directly following the meeting. Plan to enjoy free pizza and celebrate a year of success!
