Kathryn (Katie) Ryan completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in Biopsychology, attained her doctor of dental surgery degree at The University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago and is currently enrolled as a masters student in Prosthodontics at Marquette University School of Dentistry. During the Winter Term, 2008 Katie was elected Chair of the GSO. 
Katie has been actively involved with the GSO for the past several years. Her goals as chair-person are to improve graduate student involvement and to attain a common voice through which graduate students can be represented and heard. A concern during her term will be to incorporate and gain support of ALL programs within the graduate community. Other topics of interest are the student transport systems, public safety concerns, student parking, health insurance, housing, and avenues to improve student funding.
GSO meetings are a great way to diversify student representation and garner friendships and attain support throughout the Marquette graduate community.
Katie’s hobbies include running marathons, playing tennis/golf, deep sea fishing/diving, biking, swimming, reading, vacationing to the Caribbean, eating sushi and enjoying her pets. She believes the harsh winters in Milwaukee are compensated for by the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan during the summer months.

Alfredo Cantoral is the current vice-chair of the GSO.
Alfredo's main duties as vice-chair include building relations with the graduate departments at Marquette and identifying major needs of the graduate student population. This year, he aims to help graduate departments learn what kinds of activities other departments put on and to assist departments in building their extra-curricular programming and events.

Sampada Wakde is the new GSO Coordinator for spring ’08. She is a second year
Master’s student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Sampada has been active in the GSO as a representative of student media since fall’07.
Sampada's main academic interests are in the fields of vision research. Her current research delves into how people are able to perform day to day tasks like driving.
During the rest of her term as Coordinator, Sampada plans to expand the GSO in every department to become better connected with departmental graduate organizations. She plans to stay invovled in the GSO after her term ends as Coordinator as much as time allows.
As the GSO coordinator, some of Sampada's duties are to maintain the GSO website along with the SharePoint website. She also is in charge of orchestrating social events for the graduate students, scheduling the GSO meetings and arranging for the meeting spaces.
