Straz Tower Residence Hall

Some conference attendees will be staying in David A. Straz, Jr. Tower on the east end of Marquette's campus. Straz Tower, an 18-story high-rise, serves as a residence hall and is home to the Rec Plex fitness facility.

Each air-conditioned room is furnished with an extra-long twin bed for each guest, as well as a private bathroom, dresser, desk and desk chair. Room telephones feature free local phone service. For delegates with laptops, Internet access is available in all rooms via wired Ethernet connection (please bring an Ethernet cable). There is a study room on each floor and large computer lab on the second floor. Dining facilities for breakfast are located on the first floor.

Please note that there is another building on campus named Straz Hall, the headquarters of Marquette's College of Business Administration. It's good idea to refer to your residence as Straz Tower when asking for directions on campus.

History
Straz Tower used to be the central branch of YMCA Milwaukee. Marquette first started leasing space in the "Y" in 1974 and purchased the building in 1993. Formerly known on campus as East Hall, the building was completely renovated in 2000. Straz Tower is named after Marquette business alumnus David A. Straz, Jr., chairman of the board of Southern Exchange Bank in Tampa, Fla., and a member of Marquette's Board of Trustees.
